1. How do I get a discount?

If you are looking to save on a particular drug, please select a discount from our site, print it from your computer, bring the print-out to your pharmacy, and present it when you pay for your prescriptions.

Or if you have a card, bring it to your pharmacy and present it when you pay for your prescriptions.

Either way, the pharmacist will have the lower price already programmed into his/her computer. If your pharmacist isn't familiar with our prescription drug discount program, please have him or her call 1-877-513-1935.

2. Where do these discounts come from?

These discounts are negotiated by the Pharmacy Discount Network and do not imply the endorsement of any pharmaceutical manufacturer, pharmacy, or state entity.

3. How can this program be free?

Because of our size and relationships to the pharmaceutical industry, we have negotiated better prices with pharmaceutical companies. People who use our program save on average approximately 28% off the retail price. We are paid a small fee by the pharmaceutical companies when you use your card, even though you are saving off the retail price. If you do not save money, we do not get paid.

4. Is my privacy protected?

The Pharmacy Discount Network is prohibited by law from obtaining or selling any personal information including name, address, or prescription information of members who use the pharmacy discount card. We respect your privacy and we will never know if you, or anyone else, uses a pharmacy discount card to fill a prescription.

5. Are you a Discount Medical Program (DMPO)?

No, we are neither a Discount Medical Program nor are we a medical insurance company. Our program is not insurance. We are not designed to replace your medical insurance.

6. What is the Health Benefits Network?

The Health Benefits Network is a nationwide resource dedicated to helping those in need of prescription drugs find affordable ways of receiving their medications. The Health Benefits Network offers the Pharmacy Discount Card free to all Americans in order to help lower the cost of prescription drugs for those in need.

7. What type of discounts can I expect?

Discounts vary based on the type of prescription, whether the drug is generic, if the pharmaceutical is covered by another discount (remember, you cannot add one discount to another), and the location of the pharmacy. Discounts can range up to 75% off the retail price, but the average discount is approximately 28%.

8. Can I get a discount at my pharmacy?

Yes, virtually every pharmacy accepts our discounts. To see a list of the pharmacies please visit our online Pharmacy Locator.

9. What if my pharmacist does not know what to do with the card or print-out?

If your pharmacist isn't familiar with our prescription drug discounts, please have him or her call 1-877-513-1935. Every print-out and card has this customer service number on it.

10. What if the discount I receive is different than what I expected?

This may happen, since drug prices differ by drug store and location. To avoid surprises, please ask your pharmacist for the exact discount that you will receive before you purchase a prescription.

11. Do I need to register or pay for this service?

No, this is free program. There are no restrictions for pre-existing conditions and you do not need to fill out paperwork. It is available to all U.S. residents and is only available for use at pharmacies in the U.S.

12. What happens when I use my card or print-out?

When you bring your card or print-out to your local pharmacy, your pharmacy will input your information into its computer. Once the information has been stored by the pharmacist, each time you return to the pharmacy, you will be eligible to get a discount.

13. Can I use this discount with my current insurance?

If you have insurance, you should bring both your insurance and pharmacy discount card or print- out to your pharmacist and ask which gives you the better discount. Our program is not designed to add discounts to discounts you are already receiving from your current provider, nor is it designed to reduce your co-pay. Please keep in mind that many insurance programs do not cover drugs for which we provide discounts.

14. What if I don't have a printer?

If you can't print our discount card it's OK, you can write down your member ID, group, BIN, and PCN numbers and take them to your pharmacist for the same exact savings. On this page you will see an image of your printable savings card. There are four numbers you need to take to your pharmacist; the BIN, GRP, and PCN numbers in the gray box on the bottom right and the Member Number in the blue bar on the bottom left. Give these numbers to your pharmacist with your prescription and you will receive the same savings you would with our card.

15. Does using this program count toward my insurance deductible?

If you have Health Insurance: If you have a deductible, the purchases you make using this program will almost certainly not count toward your deductible. Of course, we suggest you contact your insurance company to get the specifics, because not all insurance plans are the same.

If you have an HSA or HRA plan: If you have a deductible, and our discounts or card reduce the costs of your prescriptions, using our program will most likely count towards your deductible, but it will take you longer to reach your full deductible (if you reach it at all). Of course, we suggest you contact your HAS or HRA provider to get the specifics, because not all plans are the same.

Again, if you have health coverage of any kind, we suggest you contact your plan administrator to get the specifics, because not all plans are the same. The Pharmacy Discount Network is not insurance.

16. Important Note for Medicare users

Although this discount can be used as a Medicare Part D supplement by covering drugs once participants reach the "donut hole," drugs purchased with this discount program will not count toward your Medicare deductible and therefore will not allow you to exceed your deductible and get out of the "donut hole." We suggest you contact your plan administrator to get the specifics, because not all plans are the same.
